Hikers have begun walking the Appalachian Trail and generally begin the Northbound hike at Springer Mountain, making their way north. About 50 miles into the hike, they pass by Helen, which is a great place to stock up on supplies or ship items back home. It is quite a walk into town, and often best to call on the services of Alpine Taxi to get you to town and back to the trail.
Alpine Taxi is listed on the Appalachian Trail Conservancy shuttle list which is listed under Thru & Section Hiking and you can find our transportation listing on their site along with a plethora of useful information for your hike along the trail.
When you have been out having a few drinks, the last thing you want is to end the night with a DUI, having your vehicle impounded, or even worse a crash leaving you or someone else injured or dead. The best thing to do is plan ahead, if you are going to drink, and leave a small amount of money aside for a ride home from Alpine Taxi. Helen Georgia is one of the most prevalent areas for DUI and alcohol related accidents and deaths. Don’t be one of the statistics. It just isn’t worth it compared to the low cost of getting home safely with Alpine Taxi. Call ahead of time to get an estimate and you will know exactly how much to set aside for your night out drinking and dancing.
Don’t come to Helen on vacation and leave on probation.
